Create Event Type / Category

This can be used to create new event categories that can either be displayed on the front-end, or hidden from the front-end. Hiding an event category on the front-end can be used for special promos that you are linking to, but not displaying in the menu.

Step 1: Access Event Types in the Menu

From the left-hand menu, hover over events and select Event Types.

Step 2: Add Event Type Details

Option 1:
Use these instructions if you DO want the new event category to be displayed  in the left-hand menu & on the nycwff.org/tickets-events/ page.
  1. Name: Add the name that will be displayed on the frontend
    Example: Brooklyn Terminal
  2. Slug: This is the URL
    Examples: brooklyn-terminal
Do not include spaces or special characters, except for a dash (-).
  3. Description: Add the event description.
This will be displayed on both the nycwff.org/tickets-events/ page AND on the event category header at nycwff.org/event-type/brooklyn-terminal
  4. Image: This is the image for the nycwff.org/tickets-events/ page.
  5. Event Type Header: This is the desktop image for nycwff.org/event-type/brooklyn-terminal
  6. Event Type Header [mobile]: This is the mobile image for nycwff.org/event-type/brooklyn-terminal
  7. Image rollover: This is the rollover image (if required) for the nycwff.org/tickets-events/ page.

For all image sizes, please refer to the web spec sheet.

Option 2: HIDDEN event types
Use these instructions if you do NOT want the new event category to be displayed  in the left-hand menu & on the nycwff.org/tickets-events/ page.
  1. Name: Add the name that will be displayed on the frontend.
This name will be displayed at the top of this event category.
    Example: TravelZoo
  2. Slug: This is the URL
    Example: travelzoo
Do not include spaces or special characters, except for a dash (-).
  3. Description: Add the event description.
This will be displayed on the event category header at nycwff.org/event-type/travelzoo/.
  4. Hide on Frontend: Check this box
  5. Event Type Header: This is the desktop image for nycwff.org/event-type/travelzoo
  6. Event Type Header [mobile]: This is the mobile image for nycwff.org/event-type/travelzoo

For all image sizes, please refer to the web spec sheet.

Step 3: Modifying the URL

When you set up a new event type, the new URL will be, for example, nycwff.org/event-type/travelzoo.

If you would like to use a condensed link for sharing, for example nycwff.org/travelzoo, please submit an Airtable request to Mobius. We will set up a redirect from nycwff.org/travelzoo to nycwff.org/event-type/travelzoo. (This is not something that can be done by the NYCWFF team.)
