Hidden Event Category

Hidden event categories would be used for categories that you create that should not show on the lefthand event menu, the dropdown menu, or the all event categories popup.

An example of this would be a Valentine’s day promo. You would like to add certain events to a Valentine’s day category that you will link to from an email, but you do not want this category listed on the website.

Step 1: Select Add Event Type from Menu

From the left-hand menu, hover over Events, then select Event Types.

Step 2: Add Event Type Information

In the form on the left, add the following information:

  1. Name
  2. Slug
  3. Description
  4. Hide on Frontend checkbox
  5. Event Type Header image
  6. Event Type Header [mobile] image

Notes:

  • For hidden event categories, you do not need to upload the “Image”. This is used on the all events popup, and a hidden category will not appear in this popup.
  • The “Event Type Header” image must be 2100×500 pixels. (Mobius can help with this, if needed.) This is the image at the top of the category listing on desktop.
  • The “Event Type Header [mobile]” image must be 384×200 pixels. (Mobius can help with this, if needed.) This is the image at the top of the category listing on mobile.

Step 3: Publish Event Type

Click the blue Add New Event Type button to add the new event type to the website.

Step 4: Edit SEO Settings – IMPORTANT!

Once you have published your new hidden event category, click on the category to edit it. You must update the SEO settings so that search engines do not show this content.

Scroll all the way to the bottom to the “Advanced” section. In the “Allow search engines to show this content in search results?” field, select “No”.

Click Update.

Step 5: Add Events to the New Event Type

Find the event(s) you would like to add to this category. Edit each event one-by-one. Use the Event Types box in each individual event to add the event(s) to the new category.
